Well better not use any car that has a motor ran cooling fan, with a big cowl for them to snuggle up on next to that warm radiator.

Lost a cat to that, it crawled up in cousins old Malibu we went to leave started car heard thump thump and shut it off went to inspect the noise found dead cat under car. At least it died fast.

Fucking irresponsible assholes that have outdoor only cats deserve to have all my dogs shit shoveled onto their cars and thrown about their yard. I don't give a shit that a cat wants to use my car as its bed. Fuck that cat it should go live with its owners and fuck the paint up on their cars. Let alone leaving cat hair all over my convertible top. I say enact the same damn leash laws for cats as they do for dogs. Seriously fuck outdoor feral cats. They piss me off and they piss my dog off. Mostly they piss my dog off and one of these days I'm fearing to receive a call from animal control saying that they are going to take away my dog for killing a cat that ventured into her backyard. If you don't want an animal indoors DON'T GET A FUCKING CAT! I wish there were coyotes around to take care of this problem for me. . .

I agree. Outdoor cats have damn near half the lifespan, and it's a public nuisance for both stray problems and diseases. I have a kitten, and he's indoor only. The shelter we adopted him from even had a clause that required him to be.

If you live somewhere rural, however, barn cats are totally normal.

If I was in a rural area I would understand. But I am not rural. Sure this place is more rural than where I moved from but it is not by any means "take the 3rd gravel road on the right then at the burned down school house make a left and a right at the oak that was hit by lightning. . . " rural.

I looked into what the human society can do for the feral cats, and they have way too many cats at the shelter and will only do a spay/neuter and release back in my neighborhood at my expense. But that is assuming an irresponsible neighbor doesn't "own" them. At the point in which laws regarding cats are silly. A person can claim ownership of a cat that only lives outside and they don't take care of it what so ever, and that makes it illegal to relocate or do anything with regards to the damn cat.

Farm cats are fine, they serve a purpose out in the country and if I lived out there I'm sure my dog would have ran off by now anyways or gotten hit by a car like my aunts dog Arf.

Yeah, from how you described it, I expected you to live somewhere fairly populated. Stray animals are a huge problem in this country. Less so than other countries, but it's still a very serious issue. I've heard stories about people capturing outdoor cats and getting them neutered/spayed without the "owner's" consent, but it's definitely a dangerous game.

My mom made the mistake of feeding this one grey cat that kept coming around. Well who would have fucking guessed that every other disease riddled cat in the neighborhood would try and get in on the action? This guy right here, that's who. I love animals and I feel bad for them but I really don't want to have to worry about them under my car in the morning or even worse, getting my cats sick somehow. I have 3 indoor cats(one was a feral cat btw, last time we do that...) and there probably isn't a chance of them catching anything from these neighborhood cats, but you never know.

And even worse, there's an adorable kitten among them now and every time we try to catch her she runs up under a different car. Thankfully, for me anyway, my Dart Aero has the underbody cover so I don't think it can get under mine.

And here's an obligatory cat photo.

Jesus I guess people suck at training cats in the states…..outdoor doesn't equal feral, not even close. My family has three cats, all outdoor, all neutered, they only go to the bathroom in our yard and always bury it, and they take care of all of the rats and mice in the whole neighbourhood. Cats are meant to be outdoors, it's the indoor ones that escape and aren't socially familiar with the outside world that become a problem, often when un-neutered. Anyways, I can see you really hate cats, so I'm not sure why I wrote this, it probably won't make any difference to you…whatever, my two cents :p

They only have half the lifespan if your cat's stupid, all ours have been outdoor and the ones that died were 15 and 16, no diseases ever. The certainly live a lot longer than dogs on average.

And I hate cats.

I'd be fine with cats being outdoors if they left me and my car and my dog alone. They don't and I feel really bad for the cats in my neighborhood as they all look really nasty and they like to climb all over my car. There is nothing I love more than to have fresh scratches in my hood and fenders along with my roof covered in cat hair. I am also allergic to cats so that makes it even better when my car gets covered in their filth.

I actually don't mind well behaved cats too much, it is really more of the lack of respect and the irresponsibility of the "owners" of the cats that irk me. But then there is also the fact that I know my dog will get a cat one of these days and I don't want to have to deal with that whole ordeal and to tell you the truth I'm not sure if animal control would try to take my dog away or brand her as aggressive. I look at it like this, I don't want a cat in, on, or around my yard and I find it very rude that a cat can do whatever the fuck it wants and there is nothing that can be done about it.

Granted if a cat ends up ripping up my roof on my car you can sure as hell bet I'm going to get the owner to replace it.

With regard to the outdoor =/= feral, I would agree somewhat on that but at what point do they become feral? When there is a fucking pussy posse roaming the neighborhood doing what ever they fucking please? I call that being a feral cat, and to tell you the truth I have never seen them interact with any humans at all.

I am a huge supporter of spay and neutering programs and I encourage anyone who has a pet to get it done. No one wants your dog or cats litter, especially pit bulls. There are just too many animals in shelters that need homes to ever think that breeding an animal is a good idea. I also have no clue as to if this gang of cats that seem to call my neighborhood home are spayed or neutered, I really hope so because I don't want to see a litter of cats roaming my street that will really piss my dog off to the point where she would actively seek to escape just to hunt them. My dog has snapped a rope that I had her tied up with just to go chase after a cat, she has almost pulled me to the ground on a walk to go chase after a cat.

I dont like cats either. Im pretty sure one was responsible for the murder of one of our chickens. And i know for a fact this cat killed a bunch of baby bunnies in my front yard. I saw him run off with the one in his mouth, and 3 dead bodies scattered in various locations with various parts missing. I mean, wtf, who does the cat think is gonna clean that stuff up....

/endrant

So now ive trained my dog to chase cats. Im fed up.

Being rear-ended is always the other persons fault…at least in Canada it is. And we didn't have to train our cats to not go in the street because they check for cars before they cross, because unlike dogs they have a brain that allows them to think for themselves. This will be my last reply, I don't want to talk to anyone who would kill someone's pet because they think its entitled or something….
